5 Incredibly Spooky VR Games to Play This Halloween

It’s that time of the year again, when you bring out the big bag of candy, put on your spookiest outfit, and turn off the lights and pretend no one’s home. It’s Halloween!

And to celebrate, we rounded up five of our favorite VR games which span a number of horror sub-genres:

Resident Evil 7 biohazard (PSVR)

If you own a PSVR, you might look no further than Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 biohazard (2017), one of the best VR adaptations on the PlayStation Store currently. Sorry folks, but the version on Steam doesn’t have VR support, so PSVR only for now.

Arizona Sunshine

Zombies popping out left and right, dwindling ammo, there’s not much more to say about Vertigo Game’s multiplayer shooter Arizona Sunshine (2017). Ok, maybe one thing: practice your headshots.

DescriptionWhen you hear a flash of a human voice on the radio, your hopes surge – there are survivors out in the blistering heat of the post-apocalyptic Grand Canyon state! Armed with your motion-controlled weapons and the scarce ammo and consumables you find along the way, navigate the hordes of zombies coming for your brain in your search for human contact.

Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul

Oh, great. More creepy haunted houses. I better walk around and hope I’m not murdered. To death. (It’s an adventure game from VRWERX)

DescriptionArmed with a battery hungry flashlight, you find yourself exploring what appears to be a quiet average looking home in a woodsy neighborhood. Before long, you discover you’re not alone as you discover the clues unraveling the horrifying mystery of what’s gone on in this house and struggle to survive the terror that hunts you.

Links: PlayStation Store (PSVR), Steam (Vive, Rift), Oculus Store (Rift)

A Chair in a Room: Greenwater

It’s an oft overlooked oldie (relatively speaking, it’s from 2016), but it’s still a goodie. A Chair in a Room (2016) from Wolf & Wood Interactive is more of a puzzle game with some horror elements to it than a pure horror game as such, but it still has plenty of creepy atmosphere to sop up on the spookiest of holidays.

DescriptionExplore your surroundings as the protagonist of your own horror story as you immerse yourself in this tense VR thriller set in America’s Deep South. Navigate your way through your memories, piecing together the clues and puzzles, to solve the mystery of how you have awoken in the sinister Greenwater Institute, known only as Patient No.

Links: Steam (Vive, Rift)

Duck Season

Stress Level Zero’s Duck Season (2017) is a bit of a mix between ’80s nostalgia and twisted horror; the contrasts here between fun and happy memories and dark imagination of you, a kid at home trying to play the Duck Hunt-inspired game-within-a-game, borders on the schizophrenic. Truly unsettling.

DescriptionThe game of your dreams just dropped, DUCK SEASON, a hunter with ridiculous graphics. Luckily, it’s summer vacation and Mom just surprised you with a one day rental of it! Unfortunately, as you binge play it becomes apparent that all is not right with Duck Season…

Sony Licenses PSVR Headset Design to Lenovo for New Mirage Solo

Sony and Lenovo announced they’ve signed a two-year patent license agreement that will allow Lenovo to base a future VR headset off the PSVR industrial design.

Lenovo says the PSVR design will be used in the making of a new Mirage Solo VR headset.

It’s unclear what Lenovo specifically needs from the four year-old headset design, as the company’s Daydream standalone headset Mirage Solo already utilizes a number of design elements popularized by PSVR, including a remarkably similar halo strap and focus-adjustment mechanism.

It’s more likely however that the patent licensing will allow Sony and Lenovo to more closely share design insights as they both look towards the next generation of devices.

Yao Li, vice president of Lenovo Consumer Tablets and Smart Devices Product and Business Management, says the agreement will allow the companies to “work together to greatly enhance the design sophistication and appeal of the rapidly expanding VR field, and is an outstanding example of how great consumer brands in the VR industry can work together to benefit the consumer VR market.”

Lenovo currently boasts three consumer devices in the area of AR/VR including Lenovo Mirage Solo, Lenovo Mirage AR headset, and Lenovo Explorer, the company’s Windows VR headset.

FundamentalVR Partners with Mayo Clinic to Develop VR Surgical Simulations, Raises $1.4M Financing

FundamentalVR, the training and data analysis technology platform, today announced a three-year deal to jointly develop surgical VR simulation and education products with Mayo Clinic, the world-renowned academic medical center. FundamentalVR has also raised an additional $1.4 million in financing by its existing investor Tern Plc, bringing its total to $2.45 million.

The partnership is said to leverage Mayo Clinic’s surgeons and clinical practitioners, as well as its 3D modelling, data scientists and simulation specialists—all of whom will work to create new simulation content, assessment criteria and validation for Fundamental Surgery. In a press statement, the company says they’ll also benefit from access to “an unrivalled body of clinical research and validation opportunities.”

Mayo Clinic has recently brought the jointly developed VR surgery platform, Fundamental Surgery, to several simulation centers in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota.

“This collaboration with the Mayo Clinic will dramatically accelerate our progress and ensures that the FundamentalVR team has access to the very best surgical knowledge,” FundamentalVR CEO Richard Vincent says. “Mayo Clinic and FundamentalVR are both ultimately focused on improving patient outcomes and with this in mind we share the belief that the comparative data insight and measurement available through our platform will have a profoundly positive impact on the wellbeing of people around the world. Our haptic + immersive VR platform has already proven itself to offer a new way to allow skills development and we are proud that this has been recognised by one of the USA’s leading and most inspirational medical groups.”

Through the partnership, the company hopes to tap into Mayo Clinic’s expertise with the ultimate goal of expanding the platform’s function in education, assessment and evaluation. To this end, the companies have planned to collaborate on a range of simulations in General Surgery, robotic and patient-specific simulation derived from DiCom (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) data and 3D modelling.

Vive Focus 6DOF Controller Dev Kit Uses Ultrasonic Tracking

HTC earlier this month revealed a 6DOF controller dev kit for the Vive Focus standalone headset. New details have emerged about the device this week.

When HTC revealed the Vive Focus 6DOF controller dev kit earlier this month, the company wasn’t ready to share details. This week at XRDC in San Francisco, the company spoke more about the dev kit and noted that between the Vive Focus and other Vive Wave powered headsets, consumers are likely to see a number of different 6DOF controller tracking technologies accompanying different headsets.

HTC’s Viveport President, Rikard Steiber, said during a presentation today that the Vive Focus 6DOF controller dev kit uses a combination of ultrasonic tracking and IMUs to track the user’s hands. Ultrasonic tracking systems use soundwaves at frequencies above the audible human range for triangulation, typically using a series of receivers to identify differences in timing between ultrasonic sounds emitted by the tracked object.

Steiber noted that the system’s tracking field of view is 180 degrees horizontally and 140 degrees vertically, and that it’s capable of “high accuracy” up to one meter from the headset.

While the Vive Focus ships with a 3DOF controller, the 6DOF controller dev kit includes two new controllers and a large module which is mounted to the headset. US developers can sign up to receive one here.

We haven’t had a chance to try the controller tracking system yet, but aren’t entirely surprised to find that it’s based on ultrasonic tracking considering that it’s among the options offered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon VRDK, which we understand Vive Focus to be based on.

Ultrasonic tracking is not new by any means; we’ve seen VR trackers based on the technology in recent years, and the tech was employed for similar purposes long before the modern era of VR. Pico Neo was one of the first modern standalone headsets we’ve seen using ultrasonic tracking for 6DOF input, though our hands-on with the headset earlier this year didn’t inspire much confidence in the controller tracking.

Google Reveals Experimental 6DOF Controllers for Lenovo Mirage Solo

Generally speaking, the capabilities of ultrasonic tracking have been considered insufficient as a head-tracking solution for high-end VR headsets, though hand-tracking is less sensitive to latency and inaccuracy, and could prove effective with the right implementation.

Steiber made a point to say that among headsets running Vive Wave (like Vive Focus), there will likely be several different 6DOF hand tracking solutions employed, but from a developer standpoint the platform aims to work seamlessly with all of them.

While the Vive Focus is available in China as a consumer ready product, in the US and elsewhere it’s still a developer kit only. With hand input still in flux, it seems it may remain that way for some time still.

Woojer’s Haptic Vest Garners Over $270,000 at Close of Kickstarter Campaign

Woojer, the company behind the haptic belt Strap, launched a Kickstarter campaign late last month for a new haptic vest, dubbed Ryg. Initially targeting a $50,000 funding goal, the campaign has seen strong support, not only claiming successful funding in the first three hours, but also garnering over $270,000 when the campaign closed last Friday.

Update (October 29th, 2018): Woojer has closed its Ryg campaign successfully with a total of $274,524. Since the Kickstarter was treated mostly as a pre-order campaign, there weren’t any stretch goals as such. The device is said to ship to backers between November and December of 2018. Further pre-orders are being handled on the company’s IndieGogo page.

The original article detailing the campaign follows below:

Original Article (September 28th, 2018): Using Woojer’s patented oscillating frame actuators, called Osci, the company says Ryg is three times more powerful than their earlier haptic products, which include the haptic belt Strap, and a Kickstarter funded haptic unit using the same technology.

Wading past some of the hypetastic bro-speak that permeates the Kickstarter itself, it appears Ryg, presumably like its forebears, can turn in-game sounds into body shaking haptics out-of-the-box, sort of like a ‘buttkicker’ for your entire torso. Unlike the single-actuator units that came before it however, the vest itself packs in eight actuators that are said to provide “silent, harmonic and powerful tactile sensations.” Developers can tune the vest’s actuators with both Unity and Unreal SDKs for greater immersion in VR, as the vest can hypothetically simulate things like gunshots and raindrops, so not only sound-based haptics.

Connecting via Bluetooth, Ryg is said to last up to eight hours of playtime on a single charge, although it can draw current from additional battery packs for longer play sessions. An optional mounting bracket will also allow backpack-style PCs to integrate with the vest, something that location-based facilities tend to use in larger warehouse-scale VR environments.

Early backers of the Kickstarter campaign can receive a Ryg starting at $550, something the company says is around ~35% off the suggested retail price. Ryg is slated to arrive at some Kickstarter backers’ doors as early as November 2018, although the glut of backers will receive their units a month later.

You can check out the Kickstarter campaign here.

VR Combat Sandbox ‘Blade & Sorcery’ Heading to Steam Early Access in December, Trailer Here

Blade and Sorcery is a medieval fantasy sandbox from indie developer WarpFrog which is aiming to bring realism to VR combat. Including a physics-driven interaction and combat system, players can expect to master melee, ranged, and magic-based combat against plenty of squishy, and stab-friendly NPCs.

Blade and Sorcery is slated to launch on Steam Early Access sometime in December, targeting Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Windows VR headsets.

At launch of Early Access, the game is said to include:

  • 3 Maps (Home, Arena and Ruins)
  • 8 Weapons (swords, dagger, shield, axes, spear, bow)
  • 3 spells (Slowing time, Telekinesis and Lightning)
  • 3 enemy archetype (fighters, rangers and mages)
  • 2 enemy styles (Gladiator and Cult)
  • Avatar customization
  • Jumping, kicking, running
  • Free locomotion
  • Modding game data (player/weapon/npc stats, AI, NPC look, waves logic, etc.)”

The studio says Blade and Sorcery pushes for a more realistic combat style by giving objects weight that follow the laws of physics, dictating collisions via “fine” hitboxes, by giving creatures full body physics, and by giving blades the ability to penetrate soft materials or deflect magic.

WarpFrog says that through Steam Early Access, the studio hopes to eventually evolve the game from a combat sandbox “into something with more depth.” The game is said to launch with some moddable features, but they plan to add support for custom maps, new weapons and even the possibility for modders to add new game modes.

The studio maintains that Early Access could last between six months to two years depending of the success of the game, which will impact the scope.

  • 47M daily active users
  • 90M monthly active users
  • 18.5M peak concurrent users
  • 1.6M new purchasers per month

It’s the 90 million monthly active users which is most relevant for our purposes, because it gives us an accurate way to derive absolute values from Valve’s percentage-based monthly Hardware & Software Survey, which handily also includes information about VR headsets in use on the platform.

Road to VR ran the figure against the most recent Hardware & Software Survey (September), and found the following counts for headsets connected to users’ computers over the course of the month.

Oculus Rift 306,000
HTC Vive 274,000
Windows Mixed Reality 47,000
HTC Vive Pro 13,000
Oculus Rift DK2 7,000
Total 647,000

It’s worth noting that the Steam Hardware & Software Survey counts how many users have headsets attached to their computers; even if the user didn’t actually use the headset to play a game in the given month, it would still be counted. So it would be more accurate to call the figures above ‘Monthly Attached VR Headsets on Steam’ rather than ‘Monthly Active VR Users on Steam’, though this is the closest indicator we’ve got to the latter. Actual unit sales are likely significantly higher than the ‘headsets attached’ figures that we have here, but none of the above manufacturers have released official figures at this point.

While just 0.72% of Steam’s 90 million monthly active users had VR headsets attached to their computers in September, the figure has been growing at a steady clip. Valve said back in July that monthly active VR users on Steam had increased by 160% compared to a year prior.

Fantasy Spell-caster ‘Runes: The Forgotten Path’ to Launch on Vive & Rift Next Month

‘Land of Amara’ Aims to Deliver ‘Stardew Valley’ Style Gameplay in VR

‘Scraper: First Strike’ to Arrive on Rift, Vive & Windows VR Next Month, PSVR in December

Labrodex Studios, a Long Island-based VR/AR studio, today announced the first episode of their upcoming VR shooter, Scraper: First Strike, now has official launch dates for all major VR headsets.

The game will be available for purchase on Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows VR headsets on November 21st, priced at $30. A PSVR version is slated to release on December 18th.

Scraper: First Strike is the first of five episodes, all of which are planned to release in a final version targeting next-gen consoles in 2020. Based on the world created in Ryder Windham’s sci-fi novel Scraper: The Rise of Cifer, the sci-fi shooter takes place in 2076 in the futuristic megacity of New Austin, where you battle renegade robots in high-rise skyscraper complexes to save humanity.

Climbing aboard a hover chair-like mech, called a POD, you blast through different classes of baddies with plenty of weapons upgrades to craft along the way with dropped enemy loot.

Labrodex is also announcing a free DLC soundtrack of original music created by award-winning composer Winifred Phillips, produced by Winnie Waldron. Phillips has composed music for several games, including Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, God of War, and several of the LittleBigPlanet series games. You can register for the 13-track album online at the Scraper Network. Access to the soundtrack will release when the game launches next month.

Oculus Now Lets You Record Abusive Behavior on Go & Gear VR

Oculus released an update yesterday that brought screen casting to its mobile VR headsets, Oculus Go and Gear VR. In a measure to increase user safety on the platform, the company also launched a new security feature which now lets you to send video reports to their Safety Center when others have broken the company’s code of conduct.

The new function, which is now live on Oculus Go and Gear VR (coming to Rift next month), lets you record a two and half-minute video to report when other users have engaged in what the company considers abusive content or behavior. The new feature lets you send both text and now video reports from inside any VR app or game on the Oculus platform, which is then reviewed by the Oculus Community Operations team; to report abusive behavior, you have to physically engage the Video Report option from the Oculus menu at the time of the offense.

Oculus’ code of conduct bans the following user behaviors while in games or apps on the platform:

  • You may not use or promote sexually explicit, abusive or obscene content.
  • You may not use or promote language or content that would qualify as hateful or racially offensive. We don’t allow content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity, diseases or disability.
  • You may not harass, bully, threaten other users, or encourage other users to do so.
  • You may not encourage, celebrate or promote real-world violence.
  • You may not encourage or promote illegal activity.
  • You may not impersonate an Oculus employee, partner, representative, other real person or encourage other users to do so.

Oculus hasn’t clarified whether punitive actions are platform-wide, or only affect a user’s ability to join a specific game or app where the offense occurred.

Taking a Virtual Step Back

As the company broadens its safety measures, it invariably drives the point home that the company’s VR platform is moving forward with many of same conduct policies seen on other social networks and video streaming services—seemingly par for the course as the VR arm of Facebook. Virtual reality cuts a bit closer to the bone than Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube though, as users casually transmit not only their voices and actions for extended periods of time, but also a startling amount of user data to Facebook in the process.

According to Oculus’ Privacy Policy, the swath of user data includes:

  • information about the people, content, and experiences you connect to and how you interact with them across Oculus Services.
  • depending on which Services you use, user-submitted information about your physical features and dimensions.
  • information about content you create using Oculus Services, such as your avatar, a picture you post, or an object you sculpt.
  • content and information that other people provide when they use the Services. This can include information about you, like when they send us an abuse report that refers to or contains video of you.
  • information about your environment, physical movements, and dimensions when you use an XR device. For example, when you set up the Oculus Guardian System to alert you when you approach a boundary, we receive information about the play area that you have defined
  • information through device settings you choose, such as your photos or audio content.

Side note: that data rests with Facebook and its partners unless you willfully delete it according to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). And should a user actually break a local law while using Oculus’ services, the company also has the right to access, preserve and share information with regulators, law enforcement or others regardless of legal jurisdiction. Oculus tempers this somewhat when it says the offense must also be “consistent with internationally recognized standards.”

It seems now the company is intent on more strictly enforcing good user behavior through its extralegal code of conduct; muting, hiding and blocking users on a case-by-case basis just isn’t enough as the company makes way for the glut of users on its path to what Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg hopes will be one billion users someday. These lines aren’t being drawn in sand though, but rather set in stone to create what the company hopes will be a positive and approachable environment moving forward.

What the future holds, we can’t say, but it’s these early moments when the seeds are planted that will redefine privacy, expectations of online safety, and ultimately freedom of speech: exactly why we’re traveling on the Road to VR.

‘Marvel Powers United VR’ Update Shakes Up Gameplay With New Enemies, Objectives, and More

Marvel Powers United VR today received its second patch which aims to shake up gameplay with new enemy types, objectives, and more. Oculus also offered a brief preview of an upcoming third patch which will introduce a consequential new objective.

Update (October 25, 2018): The second update for Marvel Powers United VR is now available for download. Oculus and developer Sanzaru note the following changes on the game’s official Discord server:

MARVEL POWERS UNITED VR PATCH 2 RELEASE NOTES

New Objective

  • A.I.M. Signal Jammer
    • Random objective that occurs during the Shield Generator phase.
    • A.I.M. Signal Jammers deploy blocking players from using Ultimates, reviving other players, or picking up power cells.
    • Usually occurs during boss spawn event.
    • Players will receive text and VO notification that Signal Jammers are active and are blocking abilities.
    • When trying to use a blocked ability like an Ultimate, players will receive a notification the ability is jammed.
    • Players will have a tracker prompt on their HUD showing how many Signal Jammers are active. They will need to destroy all of them to recover their abilities.
    • Once all Signal Jammers are destroyed, Ultimates/Revives and power cells are once again accessible and progress should continue for the rest of the match.
    • If all players are downed with Signal Jammers active this is a fail condition and results in the loss of the match.

New Enemy Types:

  • A.I.M. Seeker
    • The A.I.M. Seeker is a new flying enemy unit type. It will target a player objective like the S.H.I.E.L.D. Relay Towers or S.H.I.E.L.D. Generator and then launch itself at it, detonating on impact.
    • A.I.M. Seekers have a higher HP value than the A.I.M. Hunter, so it will take a few hits to destroy.
  • A.I.M. Turret
    • The A.I.M. Turret is a stationary assault turret that targets players and player objectives. It teleports in and automatically begins firing on players when they are detected or objectives like the relay towers or generator.
    • The A.I.M. Turret has a higher HP value than an A.I.M. Hunter so it will take a few hits to destroy.

Polish

  • Beginner mode is accessible in multiplayer. This can be set by the host. Beginner mode = no-fail state on losing relays / player and objective health buffs.
  • Kick player options are accessible to the host. This can be accessed by the host.
  • Secondary objectives are worth more points.
  • Reworked single player and matchmaking shortcut descriptions in Alpha Flight station to be more accurate.
  • Boss ultimate range is dynamic.
  • Reworked enemy spawn waves for greater variety.
  • The amount of relays needed to advance to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Generator is now randomized.
  • The amount of power cells needed to activate the S.H.I.E.L.D. Generator is now randomized.
  • Various tuning adjustments.

Bug Fixes

  • Lots

Along with the update the companies offered a brief look at an upcoming third patch which will add a brand new objective phase called Planetary Assault. The phase will be “randomly triggered”, and force players to work together as a team to activate S.H.I.E.L.D cannons to destroy A.I.M ships overhead before their devastating attack. Oculus confirmed that if players fail to destroy the ships, the attack will result in a complete failure of the current mission.

Patch three will also including “ongoing tuning to bosses and heroes, ongoing bug fixes, continued wave iterations to add more variety in enemy setups, and improved VOIP function and sound quality.” We expect those points will be further fleshed out by the time patch three rolls out.

Update (August 31st, 2018): The first update for Marvel Powers United VR (detailed in the original article below) is now available for download.

Oculus and developer Sanzaru Games further promise that they are “working on additional content that we can’t announce at this time. It is on a longer-term schedule than Patch 2.”

Original Article (August 8th, 2018): Marvel Powers United VR is one of Oculus’ biggest content bets yet, and the company has vowed to support for the game post-launch. The game launched to mixed reviews (ours is here) less than two weeks ago. And while the game’s first patch, due out in a few weeks, isn’t likely to make any drastic changes, the studio is promising that “bigger improvements” are forthcoming.

In the meantime, the first patch will bring some balance tweaks and a slew of bug fixes; Sanzaru revealed the details on their newly christened Discord server where they encourage the game’s community to gather:

Marvel Powers United VR Patch 1 Release Notes:

  • Fix proper ramping of difficulty (X relays lost = game over).
  • Shield Generator health tuning for challenge.
  • Re-balance health and damage on heroes for challenge.
  • Fix map select visual pop.
  • Improve messaging for entering single player.
  • Improve messaging for muting players.
  • Improve messaging for inviting friends.
  • Improve messaging for minority auto ready. Add timer.
  • Support for private matches.
  • Cut map roulette selection duration in half.
  • Remove map select timer for single player.
  • Let players move from the start of match. No more standing stuck in place waiting for Scientist Supreme to talk.
  • Rocket soldiers should respond immediately & shoot. No more clumsy searching.
  • Remove all chatter & other unnecessary soldier anims. They should always be moving to position or shooting.
  • Remove all hero grenade timeouts.
  • Lineup ultimate decal messaging to fit hazard volume exactly. There’s a small gap.
  • Improve rocket soldier object vision/awareness. Many instances shooting objects in pathway of target (Asgard columns & Dark Dimension rock columns).
  • Thor & Doctor Strange capes on occasion still obscure player vision.
  • Fix Wolverine leap effects staying persistent in Alpha Flight Station from 3P.
  • Make charging Captain America’s shield consistent. It’s always broken for first throw.
  • Squeezing trigger on Captain America’s returning charged shield offsets the charge effect.
  • Rockets impacting targets from a distance don’t explode & hover in place. Quickly enter a relay area from a distance. Observe floating rockets around the relay.
  • Fix bug at the beginning of Prologue with Captain America’s shield hovering behind the player. Just suspended there in the air. Grabbing the shield removes the issue.
  • Fix bug with grabbing two throwables in Alpha Flight Station & colliding them together, momentarily suspending them.
  • Fix bug with the underside of Venom effects on catwalks & bridges. You can see his body pop in. Should behave like the Thanos hand effects.
  • Fix bug with the crate button callout. Doesn’t display correctly when feeding Lockjaw.
  • Fix bug with the end of match white results screen.
  • Fix bug between gameplay & results where there will often be a momentary flash w/ a black cube.
  • Fix bug upon returning to Alpha Flight Station as a team. Sometimes portraits won’t display on the team status UI.

The first three changes listed in the release notes address one of the key critiques of the game (a lack of challenge), but it’s going to take more significant changes for the game to address redundancy and immersion issues.

For Sanzaru’s part, the studio says, “We continue to work on bigger improvements to the game [beyond this initial patch] and will share details on those as soon as we are able to. We’re reading all of the feedback even if we’re unable to reply to every individual post. Thank you for your ongoing support!”

'Marvel Powers United' is One of Oculus Studios' Biggest Content Investments Yet

Oculus Studios, the publisher of Marvel Powers United VR, told us around the time of the game’s launch that they are committed to post-launch content, and suggested that player feedback would drive the roadmap.

“I think what we want to do [with DLC] is get the game out there, get it in the hands of the fans, and let them tell us what they want more of. Obviously we could come up with no shortage of cool scenarios that we could script and put people in, or stories that we would want to retell, but you have to fit it in a structure—you only have so much resources and time and ability to get stuff done,” the game’s Executive Producer, Mike Doran said. “This was the choice we made, we wanted to lean heavily into the multiplayer and the co-op social aspects; we’re going to see how the fans react and what they want more of.”
