This Custom ‘Beat Saber’ Level on Expert Turns DragonForce up to Eleven

Since indie developers Hyperbolic Magnetism endorsed a few community-made level editors for their hit VR rhythm game Beat Saber (2018), people have been adding their own tracks to the lightsaber-wielding slicefest; it’s not only let creators up the difficulty, but also made it possible to make the game’s overall flow even more frenetic.

YouTuber ‘Freeek‘ used DragonForce’s ‘Through the Fire and Flames’ and plugged it into the community-built 3D editor, and has packed it full of arm-pumping beats—like something you’d probably see in Drums Hero VR (2017). Freeek added in plenty of non-arrow beats to hit, but the high-speed repetition really has to do a number on your arms, which is a cool way of upping the difficulty instead of focusing purely on technically-challenging arrangements.

If you own Beat Saber and are interested in building your own tracks right this second, head over to the Beat Saber Discord Channel for more information on how to install all of the necessary bits to get you going.

At the time of this writing, Hyperbolic Magnetism is working on a first-party level editor, which should make creating a little more simple.
