In lieu of downloadable demos, Oculus has been offering free access weekends to select games to show off what VR multiplayer is all about. Up this weekend is Project CARS (2015), the VR racing simulator from Slightly Mad Studio that puts you in the driver’s seat of everything from go-karts to some of the most expensive (and therefore inaccessible) super cars the world has ever seen.
The free access weekend starts May 10th at 10:00 AM PT and goes until May 14th 12:00 AM PT (local end time here).
Project CARS includes over 120+ cars, and over 100 unique track layouts, fully dynamic time of day & weather, and deep tuning & pit stop functionality. The game includes online multiplayer and single player career mode, and supports peripherals such as steering wheels, pedals, gamepads and keyboard/mouse.
Check out Project CARS on the Oculus Store here.
Take note: the Oculus Store version however doesn’t offer cross-play with other versions purchased via digital vendors such as Steam or retail stores, so you’ll be playing with a Rift-only pool of players.
