Gran Turismo Sport (2017), the VR-compatible PS4 racing sim, just got an update that lets PSVR owners take a crack at two race circuits in time trial mode.
GT Sport isn’t exactly a fully fledged PSVR title as such, since you can’t play the full game in VR. You’re instead relegated to a much less extensive “VR Arcade” mode that features all racetracks but only a single AI opponent with a non-adjustable (and frankly laughable) difficulty.
Small recompense: you’ll now be able speed around both Nurburgring and Suzuka race circuits in time trial mode, which at very least adds a touch more replayablity to the title which has basically languished for PSVR owners since launch – outside the odd update that added more cars and tracks to the list, that is.
And no, the game still doesn’t feature multiplayer, and it’s possible it never will, according to a GameWatch interview (Japanese) with game designer Kazunori Yamauchi.
“Although I do not have plans for multiplayer at the moment, I am planning to make time trials possible in VR mode with future updates,” said Yamauchi.
