HALF-LIFE: BLUE SHIFT & OPPOSING FORCE IN VR! | Half Life VR Mod + DLC Installation Tutorial
So yes, we can also play the Half Life: Blue Shift and Opposing Force expansion packs in Virtual Reality thanks to the Half-Life VR Mod for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift! Both DLC expansion packs Opposing Force and Blue Shift works in VR just like the original Half Life game, and in this video I'm showing you how it plays and how you get it to work. After some trial & error and fiddling with the VR mod files, I found out how to start off the popular Half Life 1 DLC expansion packs Blue Shift and Opposing Force. In this Friday night video, I'm going step-by-step how you setup the latest Half Life VR Mod to work, and how you do to get the expansions to work in Virtual Reality as well. First off, grab the latest modified Half Life VR Mod, which is created by Max Vollmer, but then edited and further improved by Rorin and now also the Source VR Mod Team, that's currently working on a Half Life 2 VR Mod as you may already know. So big thanks to all participants that are doing an awesome job with this VR mod for the original Half Life PC game, we all appreciate your hard work! Installation (if you are too lazy to watch the video): 1. First off, you need the original Half Life game on Steam. http://store.steampowered.com/app/70/HalfLife/ 2. The DLC Half Life: Opposing Force: http://store.steampowered.com/app/50/HalfLife_Opposing_Force/ 3. And of course the DLC Half Life Blue Shift: http://store.steampowered.com/app/130/HalfLife_Blue_Shift/ 4. Download the latest modified Half Life VR Mod. Here is the latest modified version of the Half Life VR Mod that also has better free locomotion with both Vive controllers and Oculus Touch controllers, as well as some other improvements: https://pixeldra.in/u/mFKMO9 Here is the official announcement about this VR mod version: https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/740k3b/just_as_the_last_goldsrc_hlvr_patch_starts_to_die/ 5. Extract the entire zip file into your installed root directory of Half-life. 6. Important: When extracted, set the "Read-Only" permissions in Windows on the file opengl32.dll to disallow file deletion, otherwise the file gets deleted when you start the game. 7. Important: Also copy the file openvr_api.dll (from the VR Mod .zip file inside the \vr\ folder) and put it into root directory of Half-life. Make the file read-only as well, just like the opengl32.dll file above. 8. To make the DLC's Half Life Blue Shift and Opposing Force to work with this VR Mod, copy the client.dll file (located in the VR Mod .zip file under \vr\cl_dlls and put it in \Half-Life\bshift\cl_dlls folder for the Blue Shift, and in \Half-Life\gearbox\cl_dlls folder for the Opposing Force to work in VR. 9. Use start.bat to launch Half Life with the VR Mod (even if you want to play the DLC games). Note: First time, go into game settings and turn off Full Screen mode (set it to Windowed, otherwise you will have problems using the main menu, doing game saves etc. on your PC monitor) 10. If you want to start any of the DLC's (Blue Shift or Opposing Force) in VR, choose "Change game" in the Half Life main menu and choose the game you want to play. The game will restart and you will end up in the main menu of the chosen DLC game. Just hit New Game and you are ready to play in Virtual Reality :) 11: Enjoy Half Life Blue Shift and Opposing Force in VR!
